In spite of 70 runs in 103 balls from Ben Compton, who batted throughout the innings, Kent were bowled out for 156 in just 39.5 overs. 4 of the 5 bowlers shared the wickets. Neither of my lists were troubled by that innings.

Warwicks put on 62 for the 1st wicket Will Rhodes, who’s heading to Durham for next season and End Barnard put on 145 for the 5th wicket, Barnard made 65 from 101 balls and Rhodes went on to score 201 from 295 balls, he batted for nearly 6.5 hours. Joey Evison in at 5 scored 65 from 103 balls. Kent batted for 69.3 overs, scoring 243, but that fell short by 21 runs.

Lancashire v Hampshire – Keaton Jeninngs won the toss for Lancs and put Hants in to bat. Hants won by an innings and 37 runs.

Hampshire 389 All Out, Lancashire 200 All Out & 152 All Out

Hants lost Toby Albert in the 4th over and were 7 for 1. Fletcha Middleton and Nick Gubbins put on 151 for the 2nd wicket. Gubbins scored 75 from 169 balls and Middleton went on to score 109 from 190 balls.Liam Dawson in at 6 made 104 from 143 balls as Hants made 389 in 114 overs. Luke Wells was the best of the bowlers with 4 for 94 in his 25 overs.

Keaton Jennings who’s having a good 2024 scored 56 in 131 balls after fellow opener Luke Wells was out in the 13th over. he and Josh Bohannon put on 90 for the 2nd wicket. In spite of that start Lancs were bowled out for 200 in 77,3 overs. Liam Dawson was having a great game, he took 5 for 47 in his 28.3 overs.

Lancs followed on and this time Wells scored well, with 51 from 148 balls, Lancs were bowled out in 77.3 overs for 152, with Dawson taking another 5 wickets for 52 runs in 29.3 overs to add to his contribution to this win for Hants.

Worcestershire 266 All Out & 321 All Out , Essex 404 All Out & 140 All Out

The Essex bowlers had an excellent start and Worcs fell to 10 for 4, Jamie Porter took 3 of those wickets and went on to take 5 for 52 in his 27 overs. 10 for 4 turned into 46 for 5, but a few good innings took Worcs to 266 All Out. Brett D’Oliveria scored 68 from 136 balls, Tom Taylor made 62* from 94 balls he and Afar Virdi, on loan from Surrey, put on 64 for the last wicket with Virdi scoring 42 as the Essex bowlers lost their way. That lead grew to 183 as Worcs moved to 321, leaving Essex with a target of 184.

Opener Robin Das was the top scorer for Essex with 32 as they found themselves in all sorts of trouble. Das’s was the 3rd wicket to fall as he was cleverly run out at the non strikers end by Brett D’Oliveira. D’OLiveira also took a wonder catch to dismiss Jordan Cox for just 11. Gareth Roderick was on fire behind the stumps and he too took a couple of excellent catches. Essex had a chance too close the gap on Surrey at the top of the table, but they were bowled out in just 456.3 overs. Worcs bowling and fielding was on point in this innings, the Essex batting was not. Well played Worcestershire, this was a great game of cricket played and watched in good spirit. I hope Essex get drawn to play at New Road next Summer! Amar Virdi held up one end with the ball taking 2 for 66 in his 23 overs. .Logan van Been took 4 for 26.

They deemed there was ‘a forseeable risk to the batters’. Gloucs take no points from the match and may be punished with a points deduction, It’s not entirely clear to me how may points Northants take, I’ve seen, 8 of rtes Draw plus the 3 bowling points, but also 20 points, which would seem a fairer outcome!
