2 teams from each Division sat out this round, Kent and Lancashire from Division 1 and Sussex and Glamorgan from Division 2. Day 1, when I’m starting out on this, saw a full day’s play up and down the country, in spite of weather predictions amongst fans. It remains to be seen if that stays … More County Cricket Round 4 – 2024
A third round in April saw the Duke’s ball back in action, sadly one thing that hadn’t changed from the first 2 rounds was the weather! I’m starting my write up on Day 1 after a chilly, rainy day watching Essex v Lancs 54 overs were bowled. Yet, in spite of a late start then … More County Cricket Round 3 – 2024
The County Championship started on April 5th this year, the dates for the last 10 years have been – 2023 – 6th April 2022 – 7th April 2021 – 8th April 2020 – 12th April 2019 – 5th April 2018 – 13th April 2017 – 7th April 2016 – 10th April 2015 – 12th April … More County Championship Round 1 – 2024
By doing a weekly round up of the whole County Championship for the last few years, I haven’t had the chance to write in detail about my team, Essex, I’ve written a yearly write up previously, but this year, just as we go into the really cold times, I’m going to go about it in … More Essex County Cricket Club – April 2023

I drove through rain and drove away through rain. I wonder if we’ll get any results this week? Durham went into their last games as … More County Championship Round 16 – 2023
For some reason only known to the ECB the 2 teams challenging for the Championship didn’t play last week when the weather was good. Autumn and rain seems to have arrived this week, with a possible return to decent days next week. I’m starting this write up at the end of day 2 when every … More County Championship Round 15 – 2023
This was one of those weeks when not every team played – Weird, again, with the Summer wending it’s way out of 2023 it would surely have made sense to have all playing over this hot weekend! The Sussex v Leicestershire match decided that Durham were promoted with a few matches to go and in … More County Championship Round 14 – 2023
The return of the County Championship coincided with a heatwave across the country, of course in the week the children go back to school! I’d enjoyed the cricket I watched live in August including a Hundred Double Header and as many 50 One games as I could make, but it was good to be back … More County Championship Round 13 – 2023
The rain ‘won’ the day at Old Trafford and Australia retain the Ashes with that draw, there was bound to be at least 1 rain affected match and Australia did what they needed t get the win in the first 2 games. I’m at The Oval for 4 days and would have loved t be … More County Championship Round 12 – 2023
This round of matches coincided with the start of the the 4th Ashes Test at Old Trafford, I’m sure many like me were keeping a good eye on proceedings there as well as their own game. We’re in July but the weather looks to be a factor in both the Test and the County calendar, … More County Championship Round 11 – 2023
