Bank Holiday weekend and we had just 2 games in Division 1 and 3 in Division 2. I’m yet to see a good reason for this and am also hoping this isn’t a weather affected weekend and the same for next weekend when the other teams play! I was travelling to Scotland on Day 1, but starting to write this on the morning of Day 2. Finishing up at a castle/hotel in Cheshire on Day 4.

Somerset v Essex – The Cooper Associates County Ground, Taunton. Lewis Gregory won the toss for Somerset and put Essex in to bat. Somerset won by 3 wickets.
Essex 156 All Out &, Somerset 128 All Out
I got a notification on this game as I was making my way to Scotland, I wasn’t sure which team had been bowled out for 156 but was disappointed to see it was Essex! New father Tom Westley was back in the team and he top scored with 43 from 84 balls but there were 7 single digit scores. Migael Pretoria’s took 4 for 36 and there were 7 catches! The innings lasted just 51 overs, It’s noteworthy and disappointing for me that Feroze Khushi who scored a century at Durham wasn’t in the team.
In reply Somerset batted for 41.4 overs as threat were bowled out for just 128! Tom Lammonby scored 38 from 116 balls but was still ultimately caught in the slips. Essex lead bowlers took 5 apiece with Jamie Porter taking 5 for 37 in 16 overs and Sam Cook 5 for 38.
Things went rather pair shape, again, for Essex in their 2nd innings as they were bowled out in 51.3 overs for just 138. Jordan Cox top scored with a massive score of 27. There were 7 catches taken in this innings.
Essex took 7 wickets in Somerset’s 2nd innings but to no avail. Shane Snater took 4or 55 in his 12 overs. But Somerset got the required runs, an opening partnership of 75 certainly helped. Sean Dickson top scored with 42 from 40 balls. They had the game won in 44.1 overs, a real blow to Essex’s title chances.
Division 2

Sussex and West Indies bowler Jayden Seales took 5 for 29 in his 8 overs! Some figures, he could be interesting against England this summer! Derby were bowled out in just 26 overs and Sussex had a 3 day win.

His fellow opener Sam Robson went on to score 162 from 273 balls, he and Leus du Plooy put on 252 for the 3rd wicket.du Plooy who’s been a very good signing for Middlesex scored 131 from 193 balls. Middx made 407 in 103 overs. Rain had left a Draw as the only likely result here.
Yorkshire v Glamorgan – Headingley, Leeds. Sam Northeast won the toss for Glamorgan and elected to bat. Match Drawn
