I have a self imposed deadline of writing up each day of a test match on the day it happens, but, for this evening I had an invite to have dinner and spend the evening with my friends Andrew and Sandy who live very near to the ground. It’s now gone midnight and I’m back in my hotel after a really lovely evening.
I’m clearly going to have to come back to this, but I’m going to sum the day up in a few words.
After having a fairly miserable summer in England Cheteshwar Pujara played an outstanding innings and finished the day on 132 not out having batted for just under 6 hours, while I wanted to see the back of the India innings I was thrilled to see him celebrate his deserved century, he’s kept his team in this game.
Moeen Ali, coming back into this England side having been left out for most of the summer took 5 wickets for 63 runs, having made 40 runs yesterday, he, with Sam Curran’s runs, has kept his team in the game!
And now sleep beckons, I’ll be back with more tomorrow. Will England remember how to bat is the key question for Day 3!
