Day 5 of the Final Test, an unusual event as a rule! This was to be virtually a whole day too. Those who’d bought tickets at the last minute for Day 4 had been served up a real treat and Day 5 was non too shoddy either! Jimmy Anderson was hunting a record, but Joe Root failed to bowl him […]
I wasn’t able to write up this match on a daily basis and have been torn over how to do this Final Test justice. For my own ‘records’ I’m going to go day by day so I can post photos from each of the 5 days. i decided last summer that it was cheaper and more convenient to stay close […]
Right, let’s see how this internet works this evening, hopefully it won’t make me want to throw my laptop out the window! Tomorrow I go home so should be back to normal wi-fi wise, but until then, here I go! I’m not even going to try to add photos here, I’ll do that at home. Day 4 of this test […]
PHOTOS TO FOLLOW Day 3 of the 4th test saw another utterly glorious day at The Ageas Bowl, today is the first of September, Autumn supposedly, not in Southampton, the sun shone in a largely blue sky all day. India had finished their innings with a lead of 27 runs, how important would that be in this low scoring game? What I’m going to type next may need some time to digest, England batted…….. ALL DAY! That was what was needed for the home team to salvage this game. The 2 openers Alastair Cook and Keaton Jennings were under some pressure with averages of 16 and 15 respectively. Cook had scored runs against Pakistan but this was proving to be […]
I have a self imposed deadline of writing up each day of a test match on the day it happens, but, for this evening I had an invite to have dinner and spend the evening with my friends Andrew and Sandy who live very near to the ground. It’s now gone midnight and I’m back in my hotel after a […]
There was a lot of angst online about Nottinghamshires intention to charge £10 for this surprise Day 5, I’d bought my tickets at the end of last summer so my £10 was long gone, and there was no way I was missing the end of this test match. Overnight the powers that be at Trent Bridge had a rethink and […]
My day didn’t start too well, I travelled into Nottingham Station by tram again, chatting to a couple as I went, I got off and felt bit light as I walked along the platform, I’d left a bag on the tram, with everything I needed to protect me from the elements, umbrella, Kahoolawe, hat, sunglasses, oh, and lunch! Luckily I […]
Before I start writing about Day 2 of this third Test between England and India I should confirm that I am an England fan, but, luckily for me I’m a fan of the game of cricket first. I had an OK sleep after Day 1, the Airbnb I’m staying in is close to a hospital with an Accident & Emergency […]
After an unsuccessful test for me at Lord’s I was looking forward to the third test at Trent Bridge. I was lucky enough to have received a ticket for the TMS v Tailenders match at Derbyshire’s 3aaa’s Ground. My daughter had been visiting from Paris and had a train to catch in London, I decided to drive her into Stratford […]
With tickets at £110 a day for the first 3 days I took the decision to only go for the first 2 days at Lord’s, I later added Day 4 for £80, but decided to sell that ticket to a friend as my daughter is here, visiting from Paris. My decision meant I saw just over 8 overs of cricket […]
My journey to the ground for Day 3 was seamless, I felt like trying to tell those paying to park that they really didn’t need to! I had empty seats around me, they must’ve heard about me! But had a few good exchanges of views throughout the day. England had the opportunity to get runs on the board and set […]
My morning had a much better start than Day 1, I drove to the road I was parking in rather than driving miles away from the ground! It was a much better plan. My seat was in the Scriveners Opticians Stand, I knew this would be a good seat because I’d picked it when I visited the ground to watch […]
England’s 1000th Test and their first against India this summer started today at Edgbaston. Most of the talk before the match, on the England front, revolved around the inclusion of Adil Rashid, a man who opted out of playing red ball cricket for his county, Yorkshire, in 2018. He goes into this series with a good deal of pressure on […]
This final day of the warm up match between Essex and India was all a bit surreal. The day started with Paul Walter and James Foster at the crease. Foster is clearly a very experienced cricketer who did play for England, if not as many times as he really should. Walter on the other hand has only 10 First Class […]
I’ and I imagine many others thought Day 2 of this warm up match would bring us a century as Dinesh Karthik was starting the day on 82, however he had a brain freeze on the first ball of the day from Paul Walter, he hit the ball skywards and Matt Dixon took a very good catch flying across the […]
